Lamo College Recruiting

Lamorinda Rugby is committed to supporting the growth of rugby throughout the United States. We believe this can best happen through strong youth and college rugby programs. To this end, we encourage all of our graduating players to pursue college rugby opportunities, and we are pleased that many of our seniors go on to play for teams throughout the nation.

Below are several helpful links for our players who are preparing their college applications.

College Advising

We highly recommend using a college adviser if your budget allows.  Making a college decision is a huge financial commitment, and a professional college adviser can help you find and apply to the right colleges for your personality and academic needs so that financial investment is not wasted.  Here are a few local advisers that our players have used in the past and who have knowledge of college rugby programs.   There are many other local advisers, in addition to your own high school counselors who are great sources of information.

Karen Donoghue has recently published a comprehensive book on college admissions for rugby athletes called The College Playbook, and it provides a wealth of information to get you started on your college path. You can find it online HERE.

Rugby Resume
It is highly recommended to complete a rugby resume before contacting any college rugby coaches, regardless of the competitiveness of the team.  This helps you determine your athletic strengths and weaknesses and helps you better choose a college team that fits your personality and skill level.  Below is the resume we recommend for Lamo players in both a Word Doc and a PDF.
